Job Description

Danfoss is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with technical background who is passionate towards continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes to leverage the talent and optimize the productivity. You will be responsible for developing and driving our operational excellence methodology,  as well as working with production management on improvement efforts for day-to-day operations.

The Danfoss Silicon Power LLC (www.siliconpower.danfoss.com), located in Utica NY, is a subsidiary of the globally successful Danfoss Group.  Danfoss Silicon Power develops, manufactures and sells customized electronic power modules for a global market. Major customer groups are the manufacturers of electrical drives, automotive manufacturers and suppliers, as well as leading international electronics industry.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will utilize your skills to support Danfoss Silicon Power in evaluating, developing, documenting, and continuously improving manufacturing processes using best engineering and manufacturing practices. You will drive operational excellence through application of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve yield, efficiency and OEE using effective root cause problem solving. Commit yourself to our high-performance culture enabling to reach production goals to deliver future today.   Your specific area of control will be DCB die bonding.  This process sequence includes DCB prep, component placement, soldering , X ray and Cleaning. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Improve, characterize and develop manufacturing processes for existing products as well as New Product Introductions (NPI)
  • Drive and coordinate LEAN initiative, and engage Six Sigma tools for process quality improvements
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Initiate and support the procurement and introduction of necessary fixtures and tooling for manufacturing NPIs and for process improvements
  • Participate in EHS related actions, to improve safety on the shop floor
  • Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule and budget
  • Assure that all engineering designs and technical data are complete and accurately documented to provide an technical / historical base for future reference and to meet customer / end user requirements
  • Support the preparation of product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Trains and guides technicians / manufacturing associates as needed on process operations.

Background & Skills

  • Education and Experience Requirements: BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science, Chemical, Electrical, Robotics Engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience in Engineering in a manufacturing environment working with production processes and equipment.
  • Experience in leading and implementing manufacturing process improvements
  • Experience with continuous improvement concepts such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects
  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt is an advantage

Compensation Data

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $80,000-$98,000/year. Base salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
