Job Description

Responsible for the development and preparation of drawing layouts depicting a variety of complex mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical components and devices under engineering supervision.  Designs involve product component level and assembly level designs.   Knowledge of the entire product portfolio is required to design new configurations.   Daily activities include working with NX 3D/2D CAD and Siemens PLM Teamcenter.
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:


•Prepare layout, detail drawings, and customer outline drawings utilizing NX CAD system
•Receives assignments from the Team Leader or Engineering personnel in the form of verbal instructions, sales orders, or inquiry system. Additional information and instructions may be obtained from the Engineer as the design is developed.
•Review available data, investigates and researches design requests, and coordinates activities with in-house organizations and outside vendors, as applicable, to develop the most feasible design to meet the required objectives.
•Considers and prepares designs to accommodate space, weight, cost, reliability, and other essential considerations and limitations.
•Determines required fits, clearances, and tolerances; prepares dimensional stack-ups.
•Prepares parts lists including part numbers, descriptions, and quantity for accurate entry into the PLM system and or SAP system
•Checks drawings that are prepared or revised by other personnel to ensure that all design specifications and layout requirements are met.
•Maintains complete familiarity with current design practices including company and industry specifications, standards, and procedures. Works to improve professional skills and knowledge through individual investigation, education and training, and attendance of seminars as time and financial conditions allow.
•Serve as a PLM Superuser for Product Engineering after training
•Demonstrates flexibility in approach and ideas, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility, and assignments.
•Demonstrates a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area. Follows safety regulations and actively contributes to work safety.

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:


•An Associate Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred
•Minimum of one year CAD experience
•Working knowledge of 3D design is required
•NX experience is preferred
•Must have working knowledge of GD&T
•Must be organized and know how prioritizes work assignments to complete assignments/tasks in a timely manner, with the highest focus on quality. 
•Must maintain a positive, cooperative, and productive working relationships in communications with all employees.  Participate effectively as a team member.  Encourages and assists in self-improvement.
