Job Description

Danfoss is searching for a Process Engineer for the Machining department in Ames, Iowa.  This position will report to the Director of Operations, Machining, and Maintenance.  Key responsibilities include developing programs to machine castings and selecting tooling required to fabricate parts to documented specifications and tolerances.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Improvement: Key contributor in the RCPS process with the role of "Problem Solver".  Investigate issues (production losses, quality problems, scrap, broken tools, safety risks, hazards, injuries, etc.), problem-solve, and implement and verify solutions to eliminate recurrences.
  • Project   Implementation: Receive hands-offs from Engineering: Give input on engineering changes, assist with implementation, and confirm changes are complete and fully functional.
  • Mentor: Teach and guide Improvement Specialists and others, technically and with problem-solving, presentations, project management, systems, and documentation.
  • Production support and permanent resolution: Assist in resolving day-to-day production issues and follow up to eliminate the need for your involvement in similar future problems. Troubleshooting daily issues, fixing equipment, or giving advice/instructions may be called for, but should be directed by the Team Leader or Manager.  Eliminating your involvement includes eliminating the issue from recurring (RCPS), and giving others the tools to resolve the issues themselves, using visual aids, SOPs, training, etc.
  • SME: Subject matter expert in machining equipment, processes, and controls of the factor
