Job Description

Danfoss in Ames, Iowa is searching for a Product Engineer Intern to work within the design engineering department of the Hydrostatics Division of Danfoss Power Solutions. The position entails working with Product Engineers and others in the organization to create and improve product designs for hydrostatic products produced in locations around the globe. The team is looking for students willing to work full-time for one semester (Fall or Spring) + full-time in the Summer, or part-time for two semesters and full-time in the Summer.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Component or system design and analysis
  • Testing and validation in a lab setting with written reports
  • Development of new product features
  • Current and new product design documentation and support
  • Travel is not required, but opportunities for domestic travel up to 5% may be available

 

Background & Skills

Required (basic) qualifications

  • Major: Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering (Power and Machinery), Aerospace Engineering
  • Level of Education: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Work availability – 40 hours/week for two terms (semester + summer) OR 40 hours/week during the summer months, 8 hours/week minimum during fall/spring months

Preferred qualifications

  • Internship or coop experience in an engineering or manufacturing field
