Job Description

Danfoss is looking for a Quality Systems Intern in Ames, Iowa. This intern will support the QMS team on quality and continuous improvement tasks and projects.  This role will include 15 - 20 hours per week during spring/fall semesters and 40 hours a week during the summer.  Remote work will not be available for this position. 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.  

  • Adhere to and improve of Quality Management System through document control.
  • Support the current internal audit process to drive Quality improvement.
  • Support the team’s progressive quality development plan and objectives that support the company
  • Assist in writing basic procedures and documenting processes
  • Review, organize and maintain all controlled documents.
  • SIR database (Lotus Notes) maintenance and organization.
  • Internal Audit scheduling, communications, and status updates.
  • Assist organization of Management Review meeting.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Level of Education: Seeking Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a technical discipline is required; Seeking sophomore classification or above
  • Preferred Majors: Quality, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, General Business
  • Preferred experience in following quality tools: PPAP, MSA, calibration, Control Plans, PFMEA, and detailed manufacturing work instructions.
  • Previous quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with IATF 16949:2016 preferred.
  • Previous experience in using problem solving skills such as 8D’s, 5 why’s, fishbone diagrams required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Preferred Work Availability: 40 hours/week during summer months; 15-20 hours/week during fall/spring semesters (or more if schedule allows).
