Danfoss Power Solutions in Ames, IA is looking for a Simulation Engineer Intern to participate in manufacturing production and machining line process simulation. Self-driven and result-oriented students seeking variety, challenge, and an opportunity to build skill in implementing new technology into the business world and people skills will benefit from our internship. The Simulation Engineer Intern will gain technical knowledge and experience applying Simulation technology to new our global manufacturing sites. You will have the opportunity to gain global experience working with colleagues and suppliers from around the world.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following
- Supporting Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain with Simulation projects.
- Interacting with internal customers to collect, validate and analyze process data.
- Building of Discrete Event Simulation models with focus on throughput, resource utilization, resource flow, constraints, blockage, process improvement.
- Guiding and training teams in the value of discrete event simulations.
- Usage of CAD software to aid customers.
- Participating in various implementation projects related to Simulation.
Background & Skills
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, with an interest/experience in the use and application of Discrete Event Simulation tools – (Production lines & Supply chain).
- Level of Education: Freshman and Sophomores are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to work 10-20 hours fall/spring, 40 hours/week in summer.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of probability distributions (normal, triangle, uniform) and programming languages (i.e. SimTalk).
- Experience with 2D & 3D CAD.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the application of Simulation Tools to model, analyze and provide solutions to scenarios where increased efficiency, throughput, waste reduction, lay out changes, etc. are needed.
- Experience with data collection, data process and process analysis.
- Hands-on experience with the operation of Simulation software, desirable Siemens Tecnomatix Plant simulation and/or Anylogic.
