Job Description

Danfoss in Ames, Iowa is searching for a Team Leader to join their manufacturing organization. The primary responsibility of the Team Leader is to safely manage production activities and resources within their operational area to ensure the timely delivery of quality parts that meet or exceed customer expectations. This position will run 12 hour shifts on Fri/Sat/Sun.

Job Responsibilities

  • Foster teamwork and engagement that embodies Danfoss values and behaviors
  • Create clear, documented expectations for each team member
  • Provide feedback regularly, while recognizing good performance and correcting performance issues
  • Direct daily activities hands-on and via Team Coordinators
  • Ensure robust, standard systems are in place and followed
  • Manage variable activity rates, including flexible staffing
  • Reinforce safety and deliberate actions
  • Promote quality excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate team meetings with appropriate business content and cascading communication
  • Communicate externally as the “voice of the team”
  • Develop Team Coordinators and others utilizing IDPs
  • Monitor production, and have a strong shop floor presence
  • Identify waste and opportunities through MIFAs and Paretto charts
  • Review and react to all financials for assigned cost centers
  • Respond to Team Coordinator escalations and quickly resolve issues
  • Ensure 5S sustainment and improvement
  • Lead and own the RCPS process, ensure actions are getting complete on time and driving strong results
  • Track KPI’s, update, report and present; identify projects and actions to achieve all KPI goals
  • Complete all aspects of Leader Standard Work including but not limited to:
    • Facilitating problem solving activities utilizing 4-Steps and 8Ds
    • Quarterly MIFA reviews
    • Shop Floor Audits
    • Standard Work, Control Plan, and PFMEA reviews

Background & Skills

  • High School/GED is required; College degree is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills such as flexibility, dependability, and independence are essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills: SAP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) required
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Team player who is able to build positive working relationships
  • Previous experience with leading continuous improvement events are preferred, but not required
