Job Description

Danfoss, a global market leader in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Heating & Water, and Motion Controls, has an opening for a US/CA Trade Compliance Specialist to assist the company in achieving its compliance, cost, and service goals. The US/CA Trade Compliance Specialist will assist in managing various aspects of US and Canadian trade compliance regulations for all sites.

The US/CA Trade Compliance Specialist will ensure compliance by adhering to US and Canadian Trade Regulations, the Danfoss Compliance Program, performing product compliance reviews, monitoring customs broker compliance, internal audits, education of internal team members and associated responsibilities.

We are flexible on working location in Mexico as long as you have the competencies for the job.

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary role is to classify products for US and Canadian imports and exports.  Must have knowledge of Schedule Bs and Section 301 tariffs.
  • Manage FTA programs to ensure regulatory compliance, including qualification process and solicitation process.
  • Assist in determining scope for applicable AD/CVD cases.
  • Work with product managers for PGA applicability.
  • Perform internal audits of Customs entries and document findings to determine effectiveness of compliance procedures.
  • Maintain current, comprehensive knowledge of US Customs regulations, as well as the policies and practices of participating government agencies.
  • Support company’s C-TPAT program.
  • Perform research and provide guidance to business to address and solve compliance issues based on the needs of the business including country of origin, classification, etc.
  • Distribute relevant information internally, maintaining regular contact and communication with business units to facilitate compliance.
  • Maintain close contact with business units, confirming trade compliance requirements are met to minimize delays.
  • Other projects and/or duties, as assigned, or as business needs require.

Background & Skills

  • 6+ years required experience in the international trade including tariff classification, origin determination and FTAs.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at a medium/large importer/exporters or trade consultant, or a combination of with emphasis on US Trade Compliance.
  • Experience with Import-Export Trade IT systems (SAP-GTS preferred)
  • Working knowledge of on-line government databases and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex regulations and other data with excellent tariff classification skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills (verbal and written). Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the corporation.
  • Proven ability to develop strong business relationships both internally and externally.
  • Superior analytical, organization, leadership, diplomatic, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills. Ability to think critically, work independently, troubleshoot, and prioritize.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • International Transportation knowledge, a plus.
  • Experience working with ACE.
  • C-TPAT experience.
  • Experience maintaining audit program is preferred.
  • SAP/ERP experience desired
  • Less than 10% travel required
