Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing the production department the appropriate tooling and equipment to assemble valves and to create and maintain work instructions and routings outlining standard work. This position is also responsible for product and process improvements by utilizing advance quality tools and lean manufacturing concepts.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide trouble shooting and related shop support using advanced quality tools.
- Carry out special projects directed toward overcoming manufacturing problems considering lean manufacturing concepts.
- Prepares standard work, process flow diagrams, time studies, process FMEAs, capability studies and control plans in support of new product releases, cost reductions and product modifications
- Uses interdisciplinary tools such 8D Problem Solving and Value Stream Mapping to find cost effective solutions
- Specifies and develops the tooling and/or equipment necessary to manufacture a product with respect to the cost, quality, and ease of manufacturing objectives
- Responsible for determining the necessary sequence of operations needed to meet manufacturing, quality and cost requirements
- Identifies capital equipment requirements and prepares Return of Investment (ROI) calculations to justify expenditures. Manages capital investment projects
- Trains personnel in new processes, methods, and use of equipment
- Reports progress on projects and activities in an effective manner to peers, management and customers
Background & Skills
- BSME, BSIE, BSAE, or degree in related fields
- Two years minimum experience in manufacturing processes with proven success in implementing process or product improvements using advanced quality tools and/or lean manufacturing concepts
- Understanding of finance, capital appropriations, and budgeting practices
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously be self-motivated, and eager to accept new responsibilities
Work Environment:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately high.
