Job Description

Danfoss is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our global hydrostatic team to serve as the leader on moderate to high complexity business critical programs by providing overall leadership, vision, direction, and structure to our cross-functional core team.  You will lead the program/project team to deliver on new product development (NPD), manufacturing and operational business objectives and ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded; You will lead with integrity, passion, and humility.

Job Responsibilities

•    You will play a key role in developing business proposals and adapting the proposed business case to the changing business environment 
•    You represent the program and are accountable to the divisional leadership team for overall project/program execution and ensuring team commitments (project contract) are met.
•    You will provide periodic project updates to inform business leaders of the current situation relating to contractual milestones and problem/high risk areas (e.g., technical, cost, and schedule).
•    You will proactively apply project management tools and techniques for project scoping and planning; Define functional deliverables to achieve project objectives and scope; Create an accurate project schedule and identify critical path activities; Look at various opportunities to influence critical path/schedule; Determine required project budget (direct expenses, labor expenses and capital expenses) and manage team to execute within budget.
•    Leads core team meetings and other necessary meetings to drive best in class program execution; Continually improves quality and effectiveness of how meetings are run, decisions are made, and how work gets done.
•    Controls project scope and manages changes; solicits and understands the business/customer needs; rescopes the program when there is a shift in need by leveraging a phase/gate governance approach and using disciplined change management 
•    Proactively identifies, mitigates, and takes responsible risks. Experience with risk planning, management, risk strategies, and develops accurate risk adjusted schedule.
•    Ensure lessons learned are documented throughout the project/program execution and identifies areas of opportunities for improvement.
•    You will demonstrate high emotional intelligence; build trust, rapport and respect with project team members and stakeholders; Engage in honest and transparent conversations.
•    Through effective information flow and interaction, you will develop harmonious working relations with other functions, and ensure employees within the team have the necessary information and resources to effectively perform their jobs.
•    Develop core team members by providing coaching and development. Serve as an advisor regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Evaluate and provide candid feedback to core team members as well as their managers on an as needed basis.
•    Displays perseverance and continues appropriate forward momentum by keeping core team engaged, even when faced with crisis, and/or changes; Effectively manages and resolves issues with core team and when needed escalates issue to cross-functional management per established issue escalation pathway
•    You will create a team culture where team members act with high sense of urgency and accountability to meet/exceed their individual and project goals; Encourage a team culture that challenges traditions, fosters non-judgements, rewards creativity, and elimination of non-value-added work
•    You will lead the core team in an unbiased way such that all voices are considered before we take decisions; facilitate the team in making decisions based on appropriate consideration of the trade-offs.
•    Identifies and manages stakeholders; Keeps stakeholders informed with appropriate and timely information.
•    Demonstrates effective collaborative team processes for conflict resolution.

Background & Skills

Minimum Requirements
•    Bachelors degree required
•    Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

 

Nice to Have
•    Degree in Engineering or Science Field
•    MBA
•    MSSBB Certification
•    Certified PMI Project Management Professional preferred
•    Experience in Project Management with progressively increasing managerial and technical roles
•    Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and in budget
•    Hydraulics product and/or process development experience
•    Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and stakeholder management
•    Proven ability to deliver Projects on time, within budget, meeting business expectations
•    Experienced with Microsoft project and office
•    Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills
•    Ability to work, influence and lead in a matrix environment.
