Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions is looking for a Financial Controller for our Edinburgh facility, who can drive operational controlling, be an influential finance business partner to the management team and facilitate the transition to begin large-scale production. 


The facility in Edinburgh is the site of Danfoss’ Digital Displacement business unit, which will be the main business to support in this role. The facility also hosts other businesses and is expected to grow significantly over the coming years. This job offers the opportunity to join a vibrant site at the forefront of digital mobile hydraulics, and with financial insights to become a key player in operational and strategic decision making.

Job Responsibilities

As our new Financial Controller, you will act as financial partner to the BU and operational leadership team at the site, as well as to the Incubation Division and company finance functions. You will manage the financial and accounting operation and activities in accordance with prescribed Corporate, Divisional, and Plant policies and procedures. You will also direct all budgeting and planning processes required by business as well as oversee the adherence to Corporate, Divisional and Plant policies, procedures, and controls. You will contribute to creation and fulfilment of BU and plant strategy and advise BU and plant leadership at all levels. Moreover, you will work closely with Operations team as well as be in contact with all parts of the organization, such as supply chain leaders, global services and similar functions. Your job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Business analysis and cost control
  • Preparation of monthly plant outlook, including deviation analysis to budget
  • Timely and accurate preparation of financial management reporting for the BU and plant (incl. KPI reporting, analysis and trends)
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities to Management team resulting from analysis and based on this make proposals for correction and improvements
  • Provides guidance to the cost reduction initiatives in the plant
  • Preparation of annual budget and ensure that it meets the targets provided by BU controlling/management - as well as securing correct standard cost of the products
  • Support the organization is ad hoc analysis and questions

Background & Skills

To be considered for this position, you should have a background within accounting, business or finance and preferably as a minimum hold a bachelor’s degree in economics or finance. Furthermore, you:

 

  • Have experience with controlling, preferably from a manufacturing company
  • Have experience with SAP system and excellent skills in Excel
  • Are experienced in day-to-day finance operations, analysis and reporting
  • Are an individual with interest and capability to quickly acquire and apply new knowledge
  • Have a passion for details and an ability to explain these details to others in a constructive dialogue
  • Communicate clearly in both written and spoken English
