Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions in Scotland has an exciting opportunity for a Software Test Developer to join our Embedded Software System team in Edinburgh. The role will focus on testing embedded software for our highly innovative Digital Displacement Pump technology. The embedded software runs on a microcontroller and is at the core of our innovative digital hydraulic technology. The technology cuts CO2 emissions by improving energy efficiency. It also brings benefits of fast-acting direct digital control. Applications include mobile equipment and industrial machinery. 


Join us in manufacturing world-class mobile hydraulics Danfoss offers you a platform to use your knowledge and experience in testing at all levels of the software development and will involve hardware (simulated or actual) interaction. 

Job Responsibilities

As a Software Test Developer, you will be contributing to improvements in product quality, building confidence in the control of the Digital Displacement pump. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 

  • Defining new test cases from software requirement specifications 
  • Implementation of automated test cases for Hardware In the Loop Simulation and Hydraulic Test rigs 
  • Reporting tests results and providing feedback to the software development team 
  • Providing input and comments regarding the software specifications 
  • Proposing improvements to the testing frameworks and processes

Background & Skills

We are looking for a self-propelled individual with a strong eye for detail and a focus on quality. You are an open-minded team player with analytical, structured and proactive approach. Your interest lies in testing of embedded devices and software development.

 

You have Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, software development, computer science or similar. Proven automated software test development ability using Python (pyTest) or similar combined with the experience of working with formal software specifications is a desired background. We also wish that you are familiar with version control systems and hardware debug tools such as debuggers (JTAG), protocol analysers, oscilloscopes, etc.
