Job Description

  We have an immediate opportunity for a 3rd Shift ​Machine Repair Technician ​to join us at our diverse team in Freeport, IL.    The candidate in this role will repair machine tools used in manufacturing production and test.  They will lead 8-D and 4-Step problem solving teams to find root cause solutions, and work directly with engineers and other leadership staff to achieve robust manufacturing processes across the Freeport facility.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Monitors & trouble shoots electrical & mechanical equipment used in the assembly process to build hydrostatic pumps, motors, and components 

  • Provide line support for the assembly cell and is the next level of escalation after the cell expert for manufacturing issues related to safety and process quality 

  • Assist in the daily activities of implementing process changes and problem solving on the shop floor 

  • Assists in the prove-out of new processes and process changes by gathering data, making observations about the process, and communicating ideas to improve results 

  • Works closely with the Process Engineer  

  • Repair of machines used in production including chuck repair, replacing hydraulic oil hoses and leaks, replacing lube blocks, valves, belts, cylinders, seals.  

  • Electrical repair includes replacing switches, solenoids, cooling fans, fuses relays and contactors.  

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • High School Diploma, 1-year certificate from college or technical school; 3-6 months experience. Equivalent experience and education will be considered. 

  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes 

  • Working knowledge of quality/problem solving tools (PPAP, Capability studies, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, 4-Step, 8D, Fishbone) 

  • Computer skills, (Microsoft Office, PLC, test stand) 

  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic & electrical schematics 

  • Familiarity with TPM and SMED techniques 

  • Customer Service mindset and the ability to stay calm under pressure are necessary traits 

  • Outstanding safety record and approach to behavioral based safety using proper PPE are requirements
