Job Description

We have an immediate opportunity for a ​3rd Shift Material Handler ​to join us at our diverse team in Freeport. The Material Handler will be responsible for the assembly process in an assembly cell from set-up to testing.   Team members must be able to work together closely and assist each other performing all phases of material handling related functions. Fork truck experience is a requirement with sit down fork truck experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Initiative, cooperation and good communication skills are essential to be an effective contributor to the team. 
  • Team members are expected to perform all related functions of their job classification on ensuring the accuracy of inventory picks and stores. 
  • Accurately processing product for shipping, stocking, and transferring of materials throughout the facility.  Works from appropriate system generated reports as well as special instructions from Team Leader or Manager.
  • Will use fork trucks, electric and hand trucks or hoists to perform tasks. 
  • Responsible for following all department control plans and procedures including TPE, ISO, and VPP programs. 
  • Receives training from Team Leader or other classifications regarding the above related duties.

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance,
  • The employee is regularly required to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • The employee needs to be able to work overtime and weekends.  Fork truck experience is a requirement with sit down fork truck experience preferred.
