Job Description

Danfoss is seeking a hands-on, Production Planner in our Freeport, IL location.  A Production Planner interprets demands, plans, and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products.  Manage the production plan for assigned areas.

 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Manage the production plan for assigned areas.
  • Accepts responsibility of leadership role to improve overall performance in planning, production & inventory control, and clerical functions.
  • Participates in advanced manufacturing planning activities for new product releases and interplant requests.  Advising and acting on necessary systems preparation.
  • Originates and maintains product structure of all basic data listings on assigned planner codes and projects. (DIMS records)
  • Develops and monitors various system reports to identify new or changing requirements and take appropriate actions.  (SAP, excel w/macros)
  • Reviews and coordinates engineering changes and directs their incorporation into orders in-process, parts in stock, or replacement orders so that parts of proper configuration are available as required.
  • Performs make or by analysis for possible changes that would result in lower cost.
  • Responsible for the analysis of sale order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Directly interfaces with Strategic Planning/Purchasing on addressing non-tactical obstacles.
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates all phases of assigned projects necessary to bring about completed parts within the time limits prescribed by delivery commitments.  Monitors all schedules to maintain part flow to meet requirements.
  • Receives and reviews sales orders against current requirements and work-in-process. Confirms system generated order suggestions, with changes if required, to meet requirements for builds and pares in a manner that will optimize inventory and minimize production costs.

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • BA/BS degree from a 4-year college or equivalent experience preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of MRP within SAP.  Familiar with Bill of Materials. 
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, macros) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated behavioral performance as an effective trainer and communicator.
  • Would consider position as development opportunity for the right individual.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
