At Danfoss Silicon Power we are currently looking for a Senior Engineer Power Electronics (m/f/d) at our site in Ismaning, Munich area, Germany. In this role, you will be part of our Power Electronics R&D team and work in our state-of-the-art laboratory
Job Responsibilities
In this position, you will focus on the development and characterization of power modules and the design, analysis and simulation of power converters from several kW up to some MW. With your expertise in the field, you will act as mentor and role-model for the team and more junior colleagues. You will oversee and guide the overall development process comprising design, simulation and analysis, planning and execution of measurements, data post-processing, evaluation and documentation of the results. Additionally, initial evaluation of technical feasibility is part of your role as well as the communication to customers and other stakeholders.
Overall, you will closely collaborate with application and design engineers across the business units automotive and renewables/industry and within R&D.
You are responsible for:
- Technical leadership for the development of silicon carbide power modules in close cooperation with the project managers as well as the application team (supporting on customer interaction)
- Derive requirements and other input for the development, building and testing of electronic hardware such as gate drivers
Background & Skills
For this position you hold a university degree, Master / PhD level, in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field and at least 8 years of relevant work experience within a university or industry environment. You have a good understanding of power semiconductor devices and their applications, and you have experience in planning and performing lab measurements.
Additionally, we are looking for:
- Wide bandgap device knowledge (SiC, GaN)
- Experienced using power electronics simulation tools, e.g. Matlab/Simulink and PLECS
- Understanding of gate driver functionality and operation
- Experience in high voltage electrical measurements
- Experience with test bench automation, using e.g. Simulink or NI LabView is a plus
- Programming skills in Python are a plus
- Very good communication skills and positive attitude, with understanding for project execution in a multinational environment
- Fluent English language skills, German skills are a plus
