Job Description

Danfoss is seeking for a Functional Safety Software Architect and Design Engineer at our facility in Longmont, Colorado, US.  

In this position you will become an integrated part of our Software Functional Safety Team as well as the member of our global Distributed Quality and Business Process Team, and you will collaborate locally to the teams of DPS Software Solution Services.

Your overall mission will be to develop Functional Safety Software Architecture and detailed Design for Functional Safety SW with QM Inverter Motor Control SW. Your primary responsibility will be to assure Software integration at Product and System Level and the Development of Work Products required by ISO 26262 with related reports. The position reports to the Director of Quality and Business Processes. 
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop Functional Safety Software Architecture 
  • Support and derive Hardware-Software Interface (HSI) content between software and hardware
  • Support & develop safety analysis within the team and support external vendors for creating SW-FTA, SW-FMEA and System FMEA and educate engineers on such processes
  • Support the development of SW architecture for functional safety, including ASIL decomposition, freedom-from-interference analysis, and dependent failure analysis
  • Support implementation of technical safety requirements
  • Document software safety requirements, analyzes, architecture implementation, verification, and validation events for application software/or platform software for Danfoss Inverter Motor Control Systems. 
  • Derive software safety requirements for the application software and low-level driver software

Background & Skills

  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • 7 years of experience developing safety software within the automotive (preferred) or equivalent industries (e.g., aerospace) with a focus on safety
  • Experience in the creation of safety concepts, safe states, safety hardware, Active Short Circuit, Limp Home Mode, Free Wheeling, Six Switch Open, safety analysis and SW implementation on above concepts.

 

Furthermore, one or more of the following qualifications will be appreciated

  • Experience with ISO 26262, with emphasis on ISO 26262 Part 6 and Part 8. Experience on J1939 protocol.
  • Experience with C programming and/or model-based design using Simulink and agile software development processes
  • Experience with Requirements Management tools (e.g., Polarion), Work Management tools (Azure DevOps etc.), SW version control tools (e.g., Git, etc.)
