Job Description

The Global Supply Chain Technology Center is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I for our Loves Park, IL site. You will be a part of a Global team with 80+ employees, that are responsible for all processes and technologies included in the production of our products.

You will be involved in working on NPI and with different technologies that will be utilized in both the short and long term at Danfoss. We work with robots, Virtual/Augmented Reality, 3D print technology, AIVs, data collection, analytics and visualization across platforms (tablets, cell phones, etc.) simulation and many other technologies that will help us on the journey towards the next industrial revolution.
 

Job Responsibilities

•    Works as part of a project team on New Product Introduction or independently on technology projects.
•    Designs, implements, and improves manufacturing processes using Lean tools such as: line balancing, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Root Cause Analysis, Standard Work, and Value Stream Mapping.
•    Designs manufacturing setups with high focus on safety, quality and ergonomics.
•    Analyses and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
•    Evaluates and implements new technologies within manufacturing and automation.
•    Confers with planning and design teams concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and design for automation.
•    Confers with suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
•    Estimates production time, staffing, and related costs to provide information for management.
•    Creates and manages PFMEA, Control Plans, and other project documents.
•    Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
•    Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and determine process capability.

Background & Skills

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or similar technology. 
•    2+ years of experience working in manufacturing/production environment.
•    Strengths in production/manufacturing systems and logistics.
•    Experience with electronic drives/frequency converter assembly, test, quality and/or project experience.
•    Experience working with Potting or related epoxy dispensing equipment.
•    Knowledge of and experience in ISO, TS16949 and/or IATF quality systems.
•    AutoCAD and 3D Modeling software knowledge.
•    Experience with PFMEAs, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis, SPC, and process capability analysis.
•    Good knowledge of key IT tools (MS Office, SAP, MES systems)
•    Automation/Robotics experience is a plus. 
•    Ability to work effectively in a high quality, deadline driven environment
•    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
•    Global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization.
•    Good time management and project management skills to organize and plan effectively in developing effective systems and processes.
