Job Description

Danfoss, a global market leader in Power Electronics (frequency converters and inverters), has an opening in its Loves Park, Illinois factory for a Manufacturing Engineer, who is looking for an interesting career in an organization with high growth of products for energy savings and renewable energy. As a valued member of the manufacturing support team, you will work closely with the supply chain team to achieve key performance indicators for safety, quality, delivery and cost.  As the Manufacturing Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to design, maintain, and continually improve our manufacturing processes. 
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.  

  • Designs, implements, and improves manufacturing processes using Lean tools such as: line balancing, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Root Cause Analysis, Standard Work, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Evaluates and implements new technologies within manufacturing and automation.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with planning and design teams concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and design for automation.
  • Actively participates on new product development teams to ensure new products are implemented with no negative impacts to production. 
  • Creates and manages PFMEA, Control Plans, Value Steam Maps and other related documents
  • Collaborates with suppliers to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensures engineer changes are implemented with no negative impacts to safety, quality, delivery or productivity. 
  • Stakeholder in RCPS – Root Cause Problem Solving process on the production floor
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and determine process capability

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar technology
  • 3+ years of experience working in manufacturing/production environment.
  • Strengths in production/manufacturing systems and logistics.
  • Experience with electronic drives/frequency converter assembly, test, quality and/or project experience
  • Experience working with Potting or related epoxy dispensing equipment
  • Knowledge of and experience in TS16949 and/or IATF quality system
  • Experience with PFMEAs, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis, SPC, and process capability analysis.
  • AutoCAD and 3D Modeling software knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of key IT tools (MS Office, SAP, MES systems)
  • Ability to work effectively in a high quality, deadline driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization.
  • Good time management and project management skills to organize and plan effectively in developing effective systems and processes.
  • Automation/Robotics experience is a plus.
