Job Description

RAC (Refrigeration and air-conditioning controls) has embraced the digital transformation and is working to grow our portfolio into electronic expansion valves (EXV), as well as stepper drivers and refrigeration controllers to support the EXV portfolio. RAC is therefore seeking intern(s) to support this growth initiative. 

RAC is looking for motivated interns for semester projects to help us in the new product development area in electronics, electrical motors, programming, and testing.

We have two general projects, which can be modified to fit specific needs or wishes, and we are also flexible for other projects if you have a good ideas.

 

During the internship you will gain the experience in: 

  • R&D processes
  • Testing methodology
  • Innovation, strategy, stakeholder management
  • Business overview – working within a matrix
  • Networking with DCS manager and coworkers


 

Job Responsibilities

Project descriptions: 

 

1)    Motor performance test bench / methodology 
The specific project would be to support the RAC System Controls team in their testing methodology of stepper motors. Stepper motors are the active elements in electronic expansion valves, which gives the torque to open/close the valve when more/less cooling is needed for the system. Having a standardized method for testing is vital to do performance tests of different technologies/algorithms. 
The project will then be to construct a test bench, as well as the methodology for testing steppers with drivers. The test bench can be done using brushless motors, torque meters, microprocessors as well the SW needed for this testbench. The skills required could be electronics, mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, and more. The intern(s) will not be alone, as senior engineers will be available for support. 

This is an opportunity to spend six months in a hands-on, functional role, to support critical processes in R&D and testing. This role will give you a chance to engage directly in our work and will require fast learning and a combination of working independently and in a team.

The result can/will be presented for R&D leadership, which is a great opportunity for networking.

 

2)    Front-End Projects
Furthermore, innovation projects are being scoped continuously to find the next big project for the R&D team to work on and the intern(s) will be included in current front-end/innovation projects to take an active part in the product development. This could include taking a project from an early technology stage to a more mature stage using market research, testing and more. Intern(s) can take an active part of the support processes for R&D, strategy, marketing, and more. 

A current front-end project currently requires a skilled engineer in electronics and programming who can help program a new innovative controller product. 

This is an opportunity to spend six months in a hands-on, functional role, to support critical processes in front-end processes, and maturing technologies. This role will give you a chance to engage directly in our work and will require fast learning and a combination of working independently and in a team.

The result can/will be presented for R&D leadership, which is a great opportunity for networking.

 

3)    Define your own project together with RAC project team
RAC is open to various projects, so please reach out if you have any ideas on to support us in the refrigeration space, RAC is looking for many different profiles. Also, a mix of projects can be done if it makes sense.

 

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, programming, or mechatronics engineering, similar degrees are also applicable. M.Sc students are Preferred.

  • Experience with electronics design is a plus.
  • Experience  with refrigeration systems is a plus
  • Experience with C programming is a plus
  • Experience with Python or Matlab is a plus
  • Good communication skills 
  • Ready to work together with a team
  • Fluent in English other language skills (eg: Danish or German) would be consider as an advantage
