Job Description

Danfoss is looking for a Lead Analyst who will Lead/Drive & Support cost down projects in Danfoss. This corporate role will be reporting to the Head of Product Cost Down in Danfoss Business System. The preferred candidate will have an experience in Value engineering & Value Analysis [VAVE], New Product Development & Cost Engineering role ideally in global manufacturing environment. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply Value Engineering, Design to Cost methods to generate technical ideas & challenge internal/external stake holders on savings & the impact, by understanding product requirements
  • Value Engineering, Value Analysis and Should costing of Mechanical / Electromechanical components/products
  • Tear down & Bench marking for Design, Value & Cost
  • Build Fact-Pack / Data package for the assigned project including BOM, Layout, fabrication drawing, Gerber data, Assembly drawing
  • Perform tasks for selection and comparison of PCBA components/specifications, Pin to Pin alternative proposals, Design change proposals.
  • Participate in Idea Generation Workshops & contribute to the maximum in terms of creativity/cost down ideas
  • Lead & drive large scale diverse, complex, cross-functional Idea Generation Workshops based on need – using Digital tools for virtual workshops
  • Ensure the process & governance is applied through-out the journey & work for continual improvement
  • Develop new tools/processes required to strengthen existing approach & own them
  • Gather industry best practices related to Electronics and Electro-mechanical components maintain good understanding of Electronics and Electro-mechanical market trend
  • Can also take part in supplier negotiations to support Procurement Organization & ensure full cost down potential is achieved

Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical or Electronics & Communication or Industrial Engineering 
  • 6 - 10 years of demonstrated experience in Value engineering/Value analysis, Design to Cost, should costing or Target costing 
  • Experience in design support for new products from concept to commercialization including and not limited to part detailing and designing, component and material selection, prototyping and validation will be an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge on manufacturing processes and best practices related to Electromechanical components & H/W based products using PCBA’s extensively
  • Exposure on global sourcing of components related to Electronics, Electrical and electromechanical categories covering Passive & Active components, ICs, Micro-controllers, PCB and PCB Assembling Processes
  • In-depth knowledge & experience in applying Value Engineering and Cost Engineering in Cost Down Projects 
  • Familiar in CAD tools like ORCAD, I-Deas, Zuken, Cadence or equivalent CAD packages
  • Familiar in circuit design & simulation like PSPICE or PowerSim will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge on each PCB assembly: solder type, conformal coatings, heat sinks, number of parts, different part types, IC Testing
  • Basic understanding of circuit theory, including power electronics circuits
  • Knowledge and use of Risk Management tools like xFMEA’s
  • Extensive experience in Tear Down Analysis & Cost Bench-marking of Electro-mechanical products involving PCBA’s : Experience in benchmarking each printed circuit board: size, layers, design rules, wiring efficiency, special features-distributed capacitance & Experience in benchmarking custom integrated circuits from each PCB, including silicon type, number of gates, design rules, etc.
  • Fair Knowledge on Schematic Design & PCB layout considerations
  • Proven expertise in different sub-commodities under Electro-mechanical components like wiring harness, Transformers, chokes, switches, sensors, AC/DC motors , connectors 
  • Exposure to aPriori or any other Should Costing tool
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently, and ethically with both internal and external stake holders across cultures and positions in management
