Material Handler

Job Description

We have an immediate opportunity for a Material Handler to join us at our diverse team.  This position conveys materials to or from storage, work sites to designated area, using forklift, dolly, pallet jacks, manual cart, or other devices.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Load, unload, and move material within or near plant, yard, or work site.
  • Read work order or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Pull parts and/or package parts for shipping.
  • Process customer and/or warehouse orders.
  • Complete inventory documents, shipping and export documents.
  • Employee must follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Each employee is responsible for the housekeeping of his or her work area.
  • Each employee is responsible for the quality of his or her work.  
  • Employees are expected to be involved in problem solving in all areas and participate on problem solving teams.
  • Attendance and punctuality is required
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger dexterity, handle, or feel objects tools or controls, turn/twist, bend at waist, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Background & Skills

 

Required (basic) qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent

 

Preferred qualifications

Six (6) – months warehouse experience in shipping, receiving or order filling 
Forklift driving experience 
Inventory management experience

 

Job Criteria

Ability to read bill of materials.
