Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of production for the Industrial Pumps and Motors (IP&M) business at the Searcy, AR facility, including day to day production management, supply chain, quality, manufacturing engineering, new production releases and management of capital investment projects. Is also responsible for the paint line and shipping for the entire facility. The Operations Manager is a member of the site leadership team and collaborates with other leaders to contribute to the overall business success of the plant.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Overall responsibility for operations for the Industrial Pumps and Motors Business unit at the Searcy facility.
  • Lead a team of 40-60 employees (including supervisor, production, engineering, quality, supply chain, and employees) in the production of standard and engineered to order products.
  • Through regular contact with Plant Manager and staff, participate in planning and/or decision making in matters concerning financial and operational problems, inventory control, plant policy and facility/maintenance issues and staffing.
  • Recommend budgets and control expenditures. Recommend wage or salary adjustments.
  • Operate and organize facilities and equipment in line with company policies and procedures. You will enforce safe practice standards maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Support the identification, development, and drive implementation of new manufacturing methods, equipment, material planning, quality improvement, and Lean and Six Sigma methods.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of area of responsibility.  Ensure that any safety hazards are corrected immediately.  Review subordinates annually on their safety responsibilities and performance 

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management
    • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Minimum 2 years managing direct reports
  • Preferred qualifications
    • Hands-on experience in Continuous Improvement / Lean
  • Job Criteria
    • Experience working with Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP) systems – SAP or MFG Pro preferred
    • Detailed knowledge of operational finance
    • Strong analytical and technical skills, including strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work on both tactical and strategic levels
    • High sense of urgency and be able to work in a team environment
    • Strong communication / interpersonal skills – ability to work in a team environment
