Job Description

The Continuous Improvement/Lean Manager will be responsible for driving overall product line operations performance through; the application of sound engineering decisions, New Product Development Design Implementation Support, LEAN Enterprise philosophies, Six Sigma technologies, and project leadership.

 

This role will participate in the development and management of stable manufacturing processes that are safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible by applying EBS, EQS, ELSS, MESH and other Danfoss and industry best practices.
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Assume full responsibility of interrelated functions, facilities, products or activities and will provide assistance to line and staff personnel in order to develop solutions for product and manufacturing problems to continually optimize the complete line of apparatus.
  • Assist in training and development of personnel by identifying and leading kaizen events designed to provide continuous improvement to processes in product development, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
  • Implement methods and practices to reduce variation, with a goal of attaining Six Sigma quality levels. Understand the application of SPC and gage effective use within the factory. Lead and/or Perform root cause and corrective action analysis as required.
  • Champion Cost Out through the Danfoss Business System) and general process efficiency improvement activities to optimize the use of capital and human resources
  • Design, develop, justify and guide the installation of new manufacturing engineering concepts, equipment, tooling, processes and systems through appropriate procedures as to optimize manufacturing cost and repeatability.
  • Manage Capital procurement projects for the operation and facility, working closely with the Financial and Purchasing teams to develop both short and long-term capital plans and execute.
  • Effectively communicate organization’s vision in verbal, written, and presentation form. Develop goals from both short-term objectives and plant’s long-term Strategic Plan for the OpEx Department.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, selection, training, development, and performance reviews of subordinate staff.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Lean and/or Continuous Improvement
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced engineering degree or MBA preferred
  • Minimum seven (7) years of work experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Lean and/or Continuous Improvement
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, experience with manufacturing processes, portfolio and program management skills, knowledge of customer strategies, successful new product introduction experience, creative/innovative thinking
  • Proven record of driving change and ability to develop and execute technology development plans
  • Prior experience leading and/or implementing lean methods in a manufacturing/engineering environment (i.e. Kaizen)
  • Design for Six Sigma designation

 

Position Criteria:

  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly with respect to written and oral communication
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with customers, manufacturing, and suppliers.
