Job Description

Plans, directs and coordinates the overall activities (safety, manufacturing quality, manufacturing engineering, production, logistics and materials management) of the operations organization. Provides and directs all manufacturing, production planning and control, and transportation, and manufacturing and facility production engineering activities required for introduction of new and/or improved products and processes and for continuing manufacturing of existing products. Maintains and improves the competitive position and the profitability of the operation as defined by targets set by the Sr. Director of Operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains quality, safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility.
  • Drives and leads disruptive approaches and techniques to constantly improve process repeatability through robust poke yoke processes.
  • Drives the long-range strategic planning process for manufacturing operations by overseeing and managing all manufacturing operations, including manufacturing, production control, inventory control, quality and manufacturing engineering.
  • Drives adoption of new process or products into manufacturing and product readiness for commercial launch.
  • Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of manufacturing, quality assurance, product & sustaining engineering, supply chain, customer service and sales     
  • Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.
  • Develops operations-related plans, capacity, budgets, infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring full compliance to all applicable requirements and specifications imposed by the company, the customer and/or the industry while seeking creative cost-effective solutions; challenging the status quo and evolving the culture within manufacturing departments.
  • Drive and facilitate 8D and Lesson Learns and coaching to eliminate opportunities for mistakes and poka-yoke within value stream
  • Maintain targeted on time delivery

Background & Skills

Required:

  • BS in Eng., Ind. Mgmt or similar
  • 10-15 yrs of Manuf. exp.; 5+ yrs as Dir. of Ops/Plant Mgr
  • Discrete & Mechatronics Manuf.
  • Managed Budgets over $50M & excellent resource allocation exp
  • World Class Manuf. Practices & Quality Systems (QS 9001, ISO/TS 16949)
  • Successful exp. managing a US manuf. operation in a non-union env.
  • Global business acumen & multi-cultural understanding
  • Capital management exp.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred:  MBA/advanced degree &Quality Auditor/Engineer (ASQ, ISO/TS) &/or Lean 6 Sigma Cert.
