Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Plan, develop, and direct experimental test programs.
- Review and approve test requests from product design engineers.
- Execute compressor performance and reliability related tests on test rigs and chillers.
- Analyze test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Perform fluid and thermal calculations, modeling, and simulations to verify new design concepts.
- Maintain/upgrade existing lab procedures and standard, and generate new ones.
- Preventive maintenance of all test equipment, including calibration.
- Upgrade and improve existing lab equipment.
- Plan projects for lab and chiller plant upgrades and expansions.
- Lead lab projects from planning to acceptance testing and closeout.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all project deliverables.
- Analyze test equipment specifications and evaluate capabilities in meeting current and future testing requirements.
- Collaborate with technical teams in the evaluation and design of systems which support R&D test programs.
- Evaluate the performance of existing systems, identify targeted upgrades, and prepare justification reports with recommendations.
- Design and develop new test equipment to meet the requirements from product development road map.
- Develop system layout and detailed drawings and schematics consistent with the infrastructure upgrades.
Background & Skills
The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Engineering
- 5 years experience with thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics calculations, modeling, and simulations
- 5 years experience working with highspeed magnetic bearing-based turbomachinery design/testing
- 3 years experience in a refrigeration/HVAC or engine test lab, including data acquisition and post processing, instrumentation, and test equipment design, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Experience may be gain concurrently
- Permanent U.S. work authorization
