Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic and highly motivated individual who wants to make a difference at the workplace and can drive and influence positive changes throughout the organization.
The primary role as a Senior Human Resource Manager is to partner our managers and support our employees in Japan on all HR related matters. The position is based in Tokyo, Japan, with frequent travelling expected to our Kyoto plant. The individual will be a member of the Local Management Team in Japan, supporting the local managers in driving common people agenda and HR initiatives.
The Senior Human Resource Manager will report directly to the Regional Human Resource Director for Asia Pacific Region (APR) and operationally to the Head of Danfoss Japan. The individual is expected to perform a broad-based professional human resources activities that support the overall business objectives and people agenda. This role requires a candidate with a comprehensive background in human resource
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for people management of HR team members in Japan
- Oversee all HR related operational matters, including Kyoto plant
- Set direction, create policies and offer expert advice in all HR matters
- Drive the implementation of Danfoss global and regional HR policies and processes
- Support the development and implementation of organization change initiatives
- Maintain healthy working relationships with union. Be a strategic influencer and secure important communication windows between management and union, to be a good balancer
- Manage and resolve employee relations matters, address grievances and handle disciplinary cases
- Drive activities with leaders to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and employees’ engagement
- Administer labor relations policies and agreements
- Other duties as assigned by the Management

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
- At least 12 years of professional experience in HR, with some years in HR leadership in an unionized environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written in Japanese and English)
- Diplomatic, sensitive and adaptable to the needs of people from different cultures
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced and demanding environment
- Knowledge of Japan employment/labour laws and skilled in labour management relations
- Aptitude in problem-solving and resourceful
