Job Description

Summary

This position will involve the set-up, gauging, prove out programs, and operate machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to exacting tolerances. Actively support and strive to meet the strategic goals set by yourself, the facility and Danfoss.  This is a 3rd Shift position and is located in Van Wert, Ohio.

*New Hires may be required to train on 1st Shift which may take several weeks depending on the position and how quickly someone can meet the Individual Training Standards before being permanently assigned FT to this shift.

Job Responsibilities

  • Must be able to learn, apply, and retain new techniques, concepts and procedures required for continuously improving products, processes, services, deliveries, and overall quality
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, control plans, routers, job instructions and measurement tools
  • Must meet or exceed all quality standards set by the customers and individual Value Stream.  Must also maintain the quality standards defined for the entire facility
  • Maintain flexibility to be able to move from work area to work area to meet the delivery expectations of the customers and the productivity goals for the plant.  Able to work efficiently to establish standards without constant supervision
  • Always promotes cooperation and “team oriented” work environment under the direction of the leadership team
  • Creates/maintains a safe work environment and practices safety for himself and others at all times
  • Must maintain a clean and well-organized work environment and support our 5S program
  • Work from programming, operational data, setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, fixtures, and material clamping methods
  • Setup machine calibration and console settings for operations such as boring, milling, drilling, facing, threading, and occasional profiling and contouring
  • Operate Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) to verify part quality
  • Employee is responsible for maintaining oils, coolant levels and all filter changes on the machines
  • Ability to multitask as it includes: operating overhead cranes, large band saws, cutting and stenciling various sizes of bar stock and delivering stock to the individual machines

Background & Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced/demanding and rapidly growing Manufacturing work environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 pound cartons consistently
  • High School Degree / GED

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Blueprint reading including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Basic math skills (measurement conversion, addition/subtraction, decimals/fractions)
  • Gauging concepts and techniques (calipers, high gages, micrometers, profiometer, roundness gauges, plug gages, air gages, dial depth gages, etc.)
  • At least two (2) years’ experience operating manual, NC and/or CNC machine tools with experience in jobs setups requiring tooling and fixturing changes
