We now have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Quality Manager to be based at our Midlands plant in Warwick (CV34 6TF).
The Quality Manager will form a key part of the plant leadership team, and will lead the overall Quality function, with a particular focus on Environmental Health & Safety and productivity. The role will require a focus on facilitating continuous improvement of products and processes consistent with established Danfoss requirements, industry standards, government regulations and customer requirements. Key ongoing projects that you will have the opportunity to drive, shape and influence include:
• Drive towards IATF16949 certification in line with Danfoss requirements
• Drive alignment towards Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems in order to achieve an integrated system over a period of two years of which he will become the site responsible.
• Improvement of our supplier quality performance, by developing supplier process controls and supplier competency development to meet our expectations
Job Responsibilities
Additional duties and responsibilities for the successful Quality Manager will include:
• Supporting to the Supply Chain function regarding Supplier Quality activities, including feeding back to suppliers and relevant stakeholders
• Offering expertise and insight to ensure customer satisfaction, including complaint management, corrective/preventive actions related to customer issues and customer visits / audits
• Leading integration of quality requirements into the development of short / long-term improvement plans
• Recommending new technologies, methods, tools and procedures to proactively address changes, and creating capital expenditure (CAPEX) requests with associated justifications
• Analysis / evaluation of metrics related to EPM / Balanced Scorecard (e.g. Customer Returns DPPM, Internal Quality performance, Scrap, Cost of Non Conformance, and Supplier Quality performance), and establishing plans to close the gaps at an operational level to achieve annual targets
• Active participation as a member of the Warwick Leadership Team in the deployment of the Danfoss Business System (DBS) tools, including the System Audit
• Leading the internal audit program and managing the corrective action system in conjunction with the management review process
• Provide expertise in Quality Assurance and process improvement tools / methods to the other functions as required to support continuous improvement activities
• Using Lean Six Sigma (LSS) to develop and analyse statistical data and product / process specifications to reduce variation, eliminate waste and establish proposed quality and reliability requirements for the finished product to deliver products to customer’s expectations
• Support the management of performance of the Quality team and developing organisational capability
• Developing and maintaining robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices, and using Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to validate test capabilities
• Participation in Value Add Value Engineered (VAVE) activities to minimise product development costs and maximise useful life of products.
• Conducting Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities with organisation and supply chain
• Participates in New Product Development projects using defined project management tools to articulate deliverables and a vehicle to commit to schedules
• Management of departmental budget.
Background & Skills
To thrive in this role, you’ll be a seasoned quality leader who will likely demonstrate:
• Bachelors Degree or similar qualification in engineering, technical or other related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
• Relevant work experience within manufacturing, engineering, product engineering or quality assurance
• Demonstrable knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement methods, approaches, and tools, including strategic planning and project management
• Proven experience in successfully dealing with external stakeholders on quality matters, i.e. suppliers and customers
• Likely training courses and certifications you will have attended include Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality Management System standards (i.e. ISO9001, 14001, IATF16949, etc.), Leadership Development
