Job Description

Danfoss in Utica has a unique opening for a Production Supervisor on 3rd shift. The hours for this position are 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM. 

The Production Supervisor is to ensure the manufacturing process operates to expectations on assigned shifts in our manufacturing production department. Safely manage production activities and resources on their shift to ensure quality processes and products that meet or exceed customer expectations. This role will have a close working relationship with other departments for problem-solving and frequent communication with stakeholders.

Your focus will be on continuous improvement to increase the effectiveness of our processes inside our manufacturing plant, through strong data analysis, problem-solving, engineering approach, and project management. To achieve that, part of your daily mission will be to lead, coach, and train the technical staff of your team, filling the identified skills gap and developing the adequate technical expertise of the shift production team.

Your team will consist of 4 Team Coordinators and up to 30 Production Operators working in a fast-paced state-of-the-art cleanroom environment producing electrical modules.

Travel may be required for up to 4 weeks for initial training to a company facility in Germany.

Job Responsibilities

  • Foster teamwork and engagement that embodies Danfoss values and behaviors
  • Create clear, documented expectations for each team member
  • Provide feedback regularly, while recognizing good performance and correcting performance issues to include year performance review session.
  • Direct daily activities hands-on and via Team Coordinators and Production Technicians
  • Ensure robust, standard systems are in place and followed
  • Promote quality excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate team meetings with appropriate business content and cascading communication
  • Develop Production Technicians and others to meet the requirements of the shift assigned
  • Establish and Monitor team and manufacturing Safety, Quality, Cost and Output metrics, and have a strong shop floor presence
  • Identify and execute, using available data, top projects, and priorities to improve the manufacturing process

Background & Skills

  • High School/GED is required; College degree is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills such as flexibility, dependability, and independence are essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills: SAP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) required
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Team player who is able to build positive working relationships
  • Previous experience with leading teams and continuous improvement events are preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment is preferred but not required

Compensation Data

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $70,000-$80,000/year. Base salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
