We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Advanced Planning / Project Engineer at our Utica, NY plant, a subsidiary of the globally successful Danfoss Group. With currently approximately 500 employees Danfoss Silicon Power develops, manufactures and sells customized electronic power modules for a global market. Major customer groups are the manufacturers of electrical drives, automotive manufacturers and suppliers, as well as leading international electronics industry. Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Develop and implement new or modified manufacturing methods in assigned areas to reduce production costs and improve efficiency. Someone who has the experience to identify, implement and solve manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate and analyze production methods, processes, and operations to determine manufacturing modifications that will increase production and reduce costs.
  • Observe and analyze high scrap or rework operation to determine causes. Advise concerned personnel of the results and recommend, as well as implement, solutions to problems.
  • Serve as local “Lean Change Agent” to facilitate Danfoss Business Systems (DBS) operational improvement activities
  • Develop and actively lead projects for process improvements from concept to implementation.
  • Oversee and coordinate production methods and modifications for production efficiency and cost control.
  • Direct and instruct subordinate processing personnel in processing changes.
  • Conduct studies to prepare and recommend new and revised operating procedures to maintain control, improve operations and facilitate processing.
  • Compile and analyze significant data relative to the solution of manufacturing problems and/or cost reduction studies, i.e., vendor capabilities and fabrication
  • Abide by all facility safety guidelines and quality procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Must have a minimum of a 4- year degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Three – five years manufacturing/industrial-related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing methods; planning and layout of production facilities; and equipment, workflow, cost control, and cost reduction techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing in order to analyze, evaluate and determine solution to a wide variety of problems that may affect the assigned area.
  • Human relation skills to direct personnel involved on projects and to work with plant supervisory personnel.
  • Technical writing ability.
  • Detailed examples of past successful projects and continued professional growth in knowledge and leadership.
  • Experienced problem-solving success thru the use of six sigma problem solving methods
