Job Description

Do you have a flair and passion for procurement, supply chain and logistics, and do you want a challenging job with a broad interface with both German and foreign suppliers? Can you challenge and negotiate with suppliers on logistics and at the same time build a collaboration that leads to performance optimization? Then we have the job for you in Procurement at Semikron Danfoss in Utica. As a Procurement Supervisor, you will be responsible for contacting suppliers and ensuring that they deliver on all parameters and most importantly on time. You will be part of a dedicated and competent team, and you will report to Head of Site Procurement in Flensburg. This is a hybrid role with at least 3 days in the office. 

Job Responsibilities

As a Procurement Supervisor in Semikron Danfoss, your overall mission will be to ensure high satisfaction in the collaboration with our suppliers and factories. You will have a busy and dynamic workday with many varied tasks, and with your flexible approach to your work and your well-developed process understanding, you will be one of the key players ensuring valid procurement data and transparency in our processes, behavior and costs. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Supervisor for all Purchasers located in Utica and Hudson
  • Escalation Level for Site Procurement activities
  • Ensuring the availability of goods under business aspects through inventory controlling/optimization
  • Monitor, analyze and challenge supplier performance (On Time Delivery) - Develop supplier collaboration on an ongoing basis
  • Negotiate with suppliers on logistics (e.g. VMI Consignment)
  • Act as a point of contact between internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Ensure savings are implemented
  • Ensure ramp up/down of new parts and drawing changes
  • Support of ramping new products (NPI New Product Interface)
  • Interface to Head of Site Procurement and to the global organization
  • Set Up a Local Sourcing strategy
  • Claim Management towards suppliers

You will have an exciting and varied job where you will be responsible for analytically and operationally coordinating tasks in purchasing and logistics. You will use tools such as 5xwhy, Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement to optimize and continuously improve processes, and you will constantly challenge suppliers on their performance.

  • 3-5 years of experience leading teams
  • 5-6 years of experience in purchasing/supply chain
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Logistics (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience working with SAP

Compensation Data

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $92,000-$120,000/year. Base salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
