Job Description
The position of ‘Designer’ is responsible for the development and delivery of CAD drawings and models according to established Danfoss and industry standards. The position is also responsible for management of PLM activities to define and maintain design data pertaining to mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical components. The job assignments will involve new designs as well as changes to existing designs for products, tools, and fixtures.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
• Execute design assignments received in the form of sketches, written descriptions, verbal instructions, and formal drafting requests.
• Establish required design parameters such as size, shape, dimensions, tolerances, assembly relations, etc. by reviewing available design and PLM data, conducting necessary background research, and making use of domain knowledge.
• Apply skills and knowledge to propose alternative designs as appropriate. Help colleagues understand design trade-offs to develop the most feasible designs.
• Prepare various types of outline/detail drawings showing individual parts or complete assemblies with proper parts lists for products, tools, and fixtures. May be required to check design work prepared by others.
• Understand and execute work required to manage all types of CAD/PLM data such as drawings, models, bills of material (‘BOMs’), model code structures, configuration management tools, etc.
• Organize and prioritize work assignments depending on type and urgency. Complete assignments on time, with the required quality consistently. Possess the ability to apply critical thinking skills to anticipate problems, apply techniques and lessons learned creatively to deliver well-crafted design solutions.
Background & Skills
Required (basic) qualifications
• Associate’s degree in mechanical design/engineering.
• Two years of work experience.
• Knowledge of CAD packages such as NX, SolidWorks, etc.
Preferred qualifications
• Siemens NX.
• Product lifecycle management (PLM).
• Four years of work experience.
Job Criteria
• Strong skills in CAD packages, highly prefer Siemens NX.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of ambiguous variables.
• Strong ability to communicate with other designers, engineers, application engineers, operations personnel, and other colleagues from different regions of the world.
