Job Description
Danfoss Power Solutions is seeking a skilled engineering technician for its Solutions Engineering team in Ames, Iowa.
Job Responsibilities
- Complete off-highway vehicle retrofit/conversion and testing projects
- Execute vehicle projects, perform tests, do the practical rebuilding, assist the validation and work out records to document the project progress
- Demonstrate operation capability for selected applications (Demonstration and concept vehicles).
- Install electrical components, wiring, and wiring harnesses in development and demonstration machines including high voltage vehicle systems
- Understand functionality and install hydraulic components including hydrostatic pumps, motors, valves, hoses, and fittings
- Design, fabricate, and install mechanical components such as mounting brackets, fixturing, and machine structural changes as needed
- Troubleshoot & repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems on construction and agriculture vehicles
- Maintain facilities, vehicles, tools, and consumable supplies related to the ADC to “showroom” level as well as developing and implementing improvements
- Work with project engineers to support the goals and timeline of each vehicle project
- Follow safety regulations and actively contribute to work safety
- Demonstrate a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area
Background & Skills
- AS or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school OR equivalent experience and mechanical aptitude
- Minimum of 2 years mechanical assembly or maintenance experience such as: Auto Mechanics, Farm Mechanics, and Military Mechanic.
- Self-starter with the ability to sometimes work independently or as a member of a diverse team
- Work ethic which includes a strong desire for continuous improvement.
- Ability to anticipate problem areas in advance and apply creative approaches and ideas to solve those problems
- Experience with Microsoft Office software products (Excel, Word, etc.)
