Job Description

The Integrated Solutions Development team at Danfoss' Ames, Iowa facility is seeking a student intern for the spring and summer or summer and fall semesters of 2020. The Integrated Solutions Development Co-op will support ongoing new system development programs with agricultural and construction vehicles.  You will be involved in system design, simulation, analysis, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting. Opportunities for further growth within Danfoss after your internship are possible. 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • General support of ongoing research programs with both hands-on and theoretical engineering work
  • Assemble and troubleshoot prototype systems
  • Conduct testing on new prototype systems
  • Document test results and draw conclusions to support lead engineers
  • Perform both “desk type” analysis and “hands on” Engineering work
Background & Skills
  • Student in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering, Physics, or Industrial Technology
  • Sophomore classification and above is preferred; Freshmen with an exceptional skill set and work experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical or electrical skills; for example, car or farm equipment service or repair
  • Key personal attributes: innovative, team-focused, independent, and self-driven
  • Prior experience with the operation of farming, construction equipment, or automobiles is a plus
  • Experience with PLUS+1, LabVIEW, Programmable Logic Controllers, or other machine control software is a plus
  • Experience with MATLAB and SIMULINK are also a plus
