Team Coordinator - Shipping and Receiving - 2nd Shift

Job Description

 

Danfoss in Ames has an opening for a 2nd shift Shipping/Receiving Team Coordinator in our Operational Services department.  The Team Coordinator will facilitate communications from supervision/planning to the Shipping/Receiving Material Handler team.  Coordinate efforts to meet the receiving strategy, shipping plan, quality targets, and scheduled ship dates on customer orders.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure a safe working environment
  • Provide customers with a quality product
  • Ensure on time delivery of product
  • Coordinate and prioritize activities of the team
  • Motivate and support employees throughout the shift keeping the team informed of expectations, scheduling, and any other follow-up information as needed
  • Uphold strict compliance with all Danfoss and Operations floor policies
  • Conduct daily shift meetings
  • Report status of receiving operations and daily shipping capabilities and initiate action to ensure targets are met
  • Perform Shop floor/SAP/PDC transactions as required
  • Communicate with other shifts to ensure a smooth transition from one shift to another
  • Maintain orderly, clean, and organized work areas according to 5S standards and cleaning plan
  • Responsible for coaching colleagues on applications of standards and to increase skills
  • Responsible for training new employees
  • Tracking metrics and updating KPI’s
  • Identify weaknesses in operational processes and participate in continuous improvement activities (RCPS, 4-steps, 8D’s as well as kaizen/continuous improvement events)

Background & Skills

 

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Ops Services experience required
  • Forklift certification required
  • Ability to communicate verbally and understand written instructions in English
  • Fact-based problem solving approach
  • Ability to drive accountability and ownership of individual and team performance
  • Ability to development Material Handlers in competency development
  • Ability to motivate Material Handlers in a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk and talk or hear
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be physically able to wear appropriate PPE
