You will drive design-to-cost initiatives that help Danfoss remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global market. Your focus will be on identifying and implementing engineering improvements that reduce product cost through smarter design decisions, material optimization, supplier collaboration, and manufacturing efficiencies.
 
You will work at the intersection of engineering, sourcing, and operations, influencing design changes that generate measurable savings while maintaining product performance, quality, and reliability. Your contributions will directly support business growth by transforming ideas into sustainable cost reductions.
 
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys challenging existing designs, finding innovative alternatives, and leading cross-functional efforts to deliver value through engineering excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Lead cross-functional design cost reduction projects that deliver measurable savings while maintaining product functionality and quality.
  • Facilitate idea generation and value engineering workshops to identify opportunities for design simplification, material optimization, and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate and implement engineering changes that improve product cost competitiveness through design enhancements and alternative solutions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, sourcing teams, manufacturing, and global engineering stakeholders to develop and validate cost-down opportunities.
  • Drive change management activities to ensure new design solutions are implemented successfully and deliver the expected business impact.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in cost-down engineering, value engineering, design-to-cost, should-cost analysis, or similar cost optimization methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including DFMEA, GD&T, engineering change management, and product lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to evaluate design alternatives, materials, manufacturing methods, and supplier solutions to achieve cost reduction targets.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar design platforms.
  • Fluent English communication skills and the ability to work effectively with global teams and external suppliers.
