Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Automation Engineer with a strong background in project management and a passion for decarbonization initiatives to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of automated processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs and minimize environmental impact. This role requires a deep understanding of automated technologies, Project Management principles, and sustainable practices.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Process Automation Design and Implementation:

  • Improve operational efficiency and reliability by developing and implementing advanced process automation systems.
  • Developing, programming, and testing control systems, including PLC, SCADA, and DCS.
  • Ensure smooth integration of automated solutions with existing processes and systems.
  • Aids in troubleshooting of electrical and controls components, motors and VFDs.
  • Develops and aids with department processes to support Kaizen initiatives.
  • Develops and executes trials and experiments and writes detailed technical reports.
  • Lead and manage automation projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and maintenance, to ensure project success.
  • Prepare detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and track progress against established milestones.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot existing automated systems to identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in automation technology and sustainability practices.
  • Provide technical support and training to team members on automation systems and best practices.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in process automation engineering, with a proven track record in project management and decarbonization.
  • The engineer shall have demonstrated skills in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration, and implementation of process control systems including batch software, Distributed Control System (DCS), HMI packages, SCADA systems, and PC networking technology.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment reliability, ABB Robot Studio, RS Logix, Fanuc Focus, Ignition, or other comparable platforms.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes that include automated assembly, welding, CNC, and laser machining.
  • Familiarity with measurement and testing equipment such as optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, helium sniffers, and gage blocks.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with sustainable practices and technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
