Req ID:  45674
Job Location (Short):  Kolding, DNK | Nordborg, DNK
Employment Type:  Full Time
Segment:  Danfoss Climate Solutions Segment
Job Category:  R&D, Technology and Engineering
Work Location Type:  Hybrid

The Impact You'll Make

Are you an Application Engineer early in your career – or with a few years of experience – looking to grow your technical responsibility while working with advanced control and energy systems?

HydronicS is looking for an Application Engineer to support and develop model-based control solutions for data center cooling systems and future district energy networks. With increasing global demand for efficient and sustainable energy solutions, this role offers the chance to combine learning, hands-on engineering, and growing ownership in a highly specialized R&D environment in Nordborg.

Your Impact

You will become part of the Model-Based Design (MBD) Development Team in Nordborg, working closely with experienced Application Engineers and R&D colleagues. Depending on your experience level, you will take responsibility for defined technical areas or sub-systems, with increasing independence as your skills develop.

A key part of the role is hands-on work in our physical lab environment, where you will validate models and software on real hardware. You will also participate in testing at customer sites, gaining valuable insight into how our solutions perform in real-world applications.

Limited travel (typically 10–20 days per year) may be expected for collaboration, testing, or customer-related activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will be adjusted to your experience level, but will typically include:

  • Execute and support Model-Based Design (MBD) tasks within development projects

  • Design and model thermodynamic systems or sub-systems for heating and cooling applications

  • Develop and maintain application software for electronic controllers

  • Work with Matlab/Simulink for simulation, testing, and performance optimization

  • Perform validation and troubleshooting in the physical lab, linking models to real hardware

  • Participate in on-site testing at customer locations together with application and project teams

  • Collaborate closely with R&D colleagues in Nordborg and interface with application, production, and portfolio teams

  • Gradually take ownership of defined technical areas, from concept and modeling to testing and implementation

  • Support documentation and continuous improvement of engineering workflows

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an engineer who is motivated by both learning and responsibility, and who enjoys combining theory with hands-on testing.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Control Engineering, Automation, or similar

  • 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience (graduates and early-career professionals are welcome)

  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink (academic or professional)

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of control systems and dynamic systems

  • Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or fluid dynamics

  • Interest in embedded software (C experience is a plus, not a requirement)

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Design is an advantage

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

What You'll Get from Us

  • We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
  • You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.
  • We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.
  • Competitive salary, annual bonus (STI), and a package of local benefits (life insurance, private medical care, sports card and more).
