The Impact You'll Make

Danfoss in Jackson, Michigan is seeking a Quality Technician to join our Hydraulic Cylinder manufacturing team. The Quality Technician will be responsible for assuring quality in all products and various services of the facility through driving the day-to-day quality system activities and deploying Danfoss Quality Management System and ISO9001/IATF16949 initiatives. This position will also assist with creating and maintaining certification packages and performing audits as required by the plant and its customers.

This is a 1st Shift position

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the investigation and disposition of non-conforming material requests
  • Develop, maintain, and update quality procedures, control plans, and documentation to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Conduct and support internal audits to maintain and improve the ISO 9001 and Danfoss Quality Management System (DQMS).
  • Serve as a company liaison for external quality matters, including Government QAR’s, ISO auditors, and customer audits as needed.
  • Lead training for operators on the inspection of machined parts, assembly processes, and product testing, while also providing a comprehensive quality orientation for all new hires as needed.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans for incoming raw materials, and perform usage decisions for all inspections as needed.
  • Perform comprehensive inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and final products to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards as needed.
  • Review customer orders and quotes to determine and ensure our capability to meet all quality requirements.
  • Ensure all process documentation, including material and test certifications, meets unique customer requirements.
  • Prepare and manage certification document packages as required by customers.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to conduct Supplier Quality Assessments and inspection of PPAP components when needed.
    Identify, create, and report key quality metrics on Performance Management System boards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and support investigations for internal and external quality issues, utilizing root cause analysis tools (e.g., A3, 8D, 4-Step) to drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Actively participate in Root Cause Problem Solving, providing quality support to production cells.

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in quality control, and working in a manufacturing environment

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and customer requirements

Skilled in use of variety of inspection gages

Working knowledge of ISO 9001 & IATF 16949.

This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).  All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.  ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 of Jackson, MI will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s degree

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the quality control aspects in industrial job shop manufacturing or equivalent

Skilled in the use of Minitab for SPC and use of Control Charts

Minimum of one (1) year experience in conducting supplier’s quality assessment.
