Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions is looking for a Senior Software Application Engineer in the Customized Software Solutions DPS-Software team located in Castel San Pietro Terme (BO) Italy for a team expansion.

 

This position has the scope to design, develop, and support customized software solutions for off-highway mobile markets such as agriculture, construction, and material handling, by creating machine level SW applications for Danfoss Power Solutions programmable devices like Controllers and Displays.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

 

  • Contribute to all phases of development including requirement capturing, specification development, design, software development and validation/verification.
  • Graphical Programming languages like Danfoss PLUS+1 GUIDE and occasionally C/C++, IEC61131-3, Python and MS VBA.
  • Design and implement vehicle serial communication such as CAN ISO 11898-2, and communication protocols like J1939 and CANopen or similar.
  • Lead and participate in global cross functional project teams.
  • Provide maintenance and support for existing customized applications.
  • Facilitate development of specifications with internal and external customers.
  • Take part in machine start-ups at customer sites.
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEAs, Safety Analysis and Hazard and Risk Assessments.
  • Responsible for integrating Danfoss’ electro-hydraulic and electronic components into complete vehicle control systems.

Background & Skills

  • Educational Background in Mechatronic, Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent culture.
  • 6+ years of experience in software development for mobile control systems.
  • Strong knowledge in Graphical Programming languages and C/C++; - knowledge of Python, HTML, JavaScript, and IEC61131-3 in considered a plus.
  • Good knowledge of software processes, design and test practices, Versioning Control Systems and SW lifecycle management.
  • Good knowledge of Functional Safety field.
  • Experience in CAN-bus communication and protocols, data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Strong knowledge of English (written and spoken)
  • This position includes travelling up to 10%
