The Impact You'll Make
As our Aero-Thermal Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and validating centrifugal compressor technology across the product development lifecycle, from translating requirements into designs to supporting implementation and qualification.
Your impact? You’ll help deliver reliable performance data, stronger compressor designs, and clearer performance models that enable better product decisions. Your work will improve how we test, analyze, and document compressor performance, helping R&D teams move faster with confidence.
You’ll collaborate with R&D engineers, laboratory/testing teams, and cross-functional product development partners and take ownership of compressor performance evaluation, test planning, and aero-thermal analysis, helping us build a more efficient and innovative future.
This is an in-office role based at our Turbocor Global Headquarters in Tallahassee, FL
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead aero-thermal evaluation of centrifugal compressor performance using experimental and analytical methods to support design and qualification decisions
- Define compressor performance test plans and oversee or participate in testing activities in the [DTC laboratories or equivalent test labs] to ensure accurate, repeatable results
- Analyze and process aero-thermal test data, developing performance maps and rating tools/programs (CPR) to translate results into actionable insights
- Recommend and support improvements to compressor testing methods, lab capability, and data workflows to increase quality and throughput
- Document results in clear technical reports and share findings with cross-functional stakeholders for future reference and continuous learning
What We're Looking For
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 3+ years of experience applying advanced fluid mechanics in engineering practice
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing industrial centrifugal compressors across key stages of product development
- Experience using commercial aero design and simulation tools, including 1D meanline codes (e.g., COMPAL) and CFD tools (e.g., CFX, NUMECA); familiarity with CAD/CAE
- Ability to plan, execute, and interpret compressor performance testing, including strong data analysis skills and attention to detail
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in an iterative development environment
Nice to have:
- Experience with refrigeration system thermal cycle analysis
- Hands-on experience with compressor or chiller testing in a laboratory environment
- Experience contributing to improvements or optimization of compressor testing setups or lab capabilities
What You'll Get from Us
- We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
- You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.
- We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.
