The Impact You'll Make
You will shape EU policy outcomes that directly influence the energy transition and industrial decarbonization—while staying hands-on in the everyday work of public affairs in Brussels. This role combines strategic influence with practical execution, ensuring Danfoss is both heard and effective where it matters most.
Reporting to the VP of Public Affairs & Sustainability, you will co-create strategy, build consensus, and translate complex legislation into tangible business impact. You will operate in a flat, collaborative structure without formal people leadership, where influence, expertise, and contribution drive impact.
You will join a small, high-performing Brussels team where every contribution matters and where hands-on engagement is essential - from shaping strategy to working through detailed legislative files. Success in this role means actively contributing, building alignment internally and externally, and delivering results in a dynamic and evolving policy environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Influence EU legislation by engaging institutions and stakeholders while contributing hands-on to policy analysis and advocacy outcomes
- Translate complex policy files into clear business implications by working closely with technical and commercial colleagues
- Build consensus across stakeholders by aligning diverse perspectives in trade associations and industry coalitions
- Drive day-to-day advocacy work including monitoring, analyzing detailed legislative texts, and shaping positioning papers
- Strengthen internal collaboration by sharing insights, aligning messaging, and contributing to a high-trust, team-oriented culture
What We're Looking For
- 7-10 years of EU Affairs / Government Relations experience within energy, climate or water section
- Strong, established network in EU institutions and relevant industry associations in Brussels and deep understanding of EU decision-making processes and regulatory landscape
- Fluency in English plus one additional EU language (e.g., German or French)
- Technically minded with interest in industrial or engineering topics and ability to engage beyond surface-level policy discussions
- Collaborative, hands-on mindset with ability to build consensus, adapt to change, and contribute actively in a small team environment
What You'll Get from Us
- We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
- You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.
- We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.
- You’ll receive benefits like annual bonus, pension plans, personal insurance, and more. These vary by contract, but they’re worth asking about - we think they’re pretty great.
