We have an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Heat Treat Machine Operator to join our diverse team in Freeport, IL. This role involves operating and maintaining setups for conventional, special purposes, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate and assemble both metallic and nonmetallic components by performing the following tasks. The wage range for this position is $20.34 - $22.50 an hour, with a 7% shift premium.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure the part number is precise and verify the process before, during, and after the heat treatment operation.
- The heat treat operator must rigorously follow documented procedures and must not deviate without proper authorization, such as an engineer's change, process update, or Team Leader approval.
- Handle racking and unracking of parts with care, complete all required paperwork accurately, including computer data entry when applicable, and confirm that parts are processed using the correct cycles, durations, and temperatures.
- Perform all necessary metallurgical tests, including case depth verification, hardness evaluation, and microstructure analysis. All procedures must be executed precisely without exception.
- Operators may use forklifts, electric and hand trucks, or hoists to carry out these tasks safely and efficiently.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or equivalent certification and at least one year of relevant experience are preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in quality and problem-solving tools such as PPAP, capability studies, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, 4-Step, 8D, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, PLC, and test stand applications, along with the ability to interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Experience with TPM and SMED methodologies is advantageous.
