The Impact You'll Make

The general machinist will report directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor.  The general machinist’s primary function is to set-up, adjust, operate several machining tools, and process parts through operation that meet quality and productivity standards of Danfoss and our customers.

This is a 1st Shift position, working 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work from part drawings and specifications.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate several machine tools on standardized work where setup detail and operating procedures are prescribed, or operate and maintain setups on special and single purpose machines where operations may involve several progressive machining sequences.
  • Largely repetitive work where fixtures, machine stops and indexing devices are utilized to control critical tolerances or where dimensions are not difficult to maintain.
  • Care required to keep material holding fixtures or clamping devices clear of chips to ensure proper positioning of work and to recognize defective tooling and machine malfunctions and dimensional deviations.
  • Use scale, calipers, adjustable, direct reading, and fixed gauges to set up, operate and check work.
  • Employee must follow all safety rules, report all accidents or unsafe conditions to supervision immediately and wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Employee is responsible for the quality of their work.  Employee is responsible for the housekeeping of his/her work area and should maintain these areas to the highest degree possible.
  • Attendance and punctuality are a key component in performing his or her job functions.  Perform other duties as assigned. 

What We're Looking For

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) to two (2) years' applied machine shop experience
  • Blueprint reading certificate
  • Formal job training or equivalent program to acquire a general knowledge of machining techniques, setup methods and operating procedures
  • Ability to read blueprint, navigate a computer, and read and follow work instructions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger dexterity, handle, or feel objects tools or controls, turn/twist, bend at waist, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. 
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
