The Impact You'll Make
A Production Machining Technician encompasses the job functions required to fabricate raw material for use in assembly using conventional, special purpose and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathe and mill equipment. This function is an internal supplier for our assembly areas.
This is a 2nd Shift position, with work hours 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Attendance and Interactions: Follows attendance guidelines, rarely absent or late, pre-schedules and pre-approves absences.
- The position will interact with co-workers in surrounding machining cells.
- The position will interact with a Machining Process Engineer, who is the subject matter expert on the machining cell.
- The position will take instruction from the Team Leader.
- Safety: Follows safety & housekeeping standards and procedures, uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), looks after the safety of others.
- Quality: Follows standard work procedures, self acknowledges and corrects mistakes, works to avoid errors and get it right the first time.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Understands proper use and care of all gages and inspection equipment used in the cell used to verify conformance of work piece to specifications.
- Productivity: Ability to meet or exceed productivity goals, manages time wisely, stays on task requiring little supervision to get the job done.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year certificate in Machining or Advanced Manufacturing from college or technical school or Associate Tool & Die Degree preferred.
- Required Skills or traits for the position:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to interpret prints, read gauges and convert units from standard to metric.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
