The Impact You'll Make
At Danfoss Climate Solutions, we develop embedded systems powering commercial refrigeration and HVAC solutions deployed globally from intelligent controller platforms to variable speed compressor drive technologies.
Our systems operate in demanding industrial environments where robustness, deterministic behaviour, cybersecurity, and long-term reliability are not optional.
We are looking for a strong hands-on embedded software engineer who enjoys solving technically demanding problems close to hardware and takes pride in building production-grade firmware that performs reliably in the field.
This role is for engineers who enjoy analysing the systems behaviours, solving problems across software and hardware boundaries, and building embedded systems that performs reliably beyond simulation.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will work across the full embedded software lifecycle from requirements and architecture through implementation, debugging, integration, and release.
You will:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust embedded C/C++ software for industrial real-time systems
- Develop software for microcontroller platforms (ARM Cortex-M) in RTOS and/or bare-metal environments, with reliable communication via CAN, Modbus, and UART
- Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis of complex interactions across firmware, electronics, sensors, communication interfaces, and power electronics
- Contribute to scalable software architecture, diagnostics, and long-term maintainability
- Strengthen software robustness, secure coding practices, and embedded cybersecurity
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve technically demanding problems and influence technical solutions
What We're Looking For
We care more about engineering capability than checkbox matching.
Typically, successful candidates bring 5+ years of strong hands-on embedded software development experience, combined with technical depth and a pragmatic engineering mindset.
You are likely someone who:
- Challenges assumptions
- Cares deeply about software quality
- Understands the trade-offs between elegance, robustness, simplicity, and delivery
- Thinks in systems not isolated components
- Enjoys solving difficult technical problems and understanding root causes
You are motivated by building products that work reliably in demanding real-world conditions.
Core strengths
- Strong embedded C/C++ skills with experience in real-time systems
- MCU-based development and hardware-near software expertise
- Proficient in debugging and root-cause analysis
- Skilled in embedded communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Modbus, UART)
- System-level thinking and adaptability to real product constraints and resource-limited environments.
- Particularly Relevant Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valued:
- Embedded cybersecurity
- Functional safety awareness
- Variable speed drives
- Power electronics
- HVAC or refrigeration technologies
What You'll Get from Us
We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us
We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected and valued for who they are.
You’ll receive benefits like annual bonus, paid vacation, pension plans, personal insurance, and more. These vary by country and contract, but they’re worth asking about -we think they’re great.
