The role of the Service Technician is to evaluate customer claims and defective merchandise to help improve our products and services. A Service Technician plays a critical role in the customer claim handling process by evaluating Editron products for potential defects both before and after they are sold to customers. They are responsible for generating technical analysis reports to highlight issues with Editron processes or products and assisting with developing corrective actions to solve these issues. A Service Technician also performs field repair work, traveling to customers to repair Editron products.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Handling customer communication via claim handling systems such as Zendesk, emails with customers, and phone calls or meetings.
- Traveling to customer sites to repair and/or analyze Editron products.
- Providing remote technical assistance to Editron customers and assisting application engineers with commissioning troubleshooting.
- Assisting in the handling of customer returns throughout the customer claim handling process and maintaining an organized physical inventory of returned merchandise.
- Unpacking, inspecting, testing, repairing/remanufacturing returned merchandise according to the specific claim requirements and instructions from leadership or engineering teams.
- Performing both standard and experimental procedures to find the root cause of problems with Editron processes or products.
- Writing and presenting reports based on technical analysis of returned merchandise or other issues with Editron processes or products.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment with critical attention to detail.
What We're Looking For
Required (basic) qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma (or GED) Required
- Experience with Microsoft Office and similar products
- Hands-on experience with electronics and mechanical assembly
- Basic knowledge about electrical components and safe handling
- Basic knowledge about electric machine functions and safe handling
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Previous experience in customer service roles
- Previous experience in tech repair roles
- Previous experience with SAP
Preferred qualifications
- Technical-level knowledge of PMSM motor functions and components
- Technical-level knowledge of electric motor controller (inverter/converter) functions and components
- Technical-level knowledge of Editron grid interface components (LCL, DB, etc.)
- Basic-level knowledge of motor control theory
- Technical-level troubleshooting skills
Job Criteria
- Highly-mobile position – regular standing or walking
- Frequent physical activity required to access other locations in the facility and handle tools, equipment, or products.
- Will be required to learn necessary skills or technical knowledge to work effectively in their role, which may include taking internal or external classes or training courses, provided by Danfoss.
- Strong English – Ability to understand technical terminology and communicate.
Other languages are an advantage.
