The Senior HR Training and Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our workforce by fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and performance excellence. This role is responsible for designing and executing innovative learning strategies that align with Danfoss’s objectives and departmental needs to create effective and scalable training programs for employees.


The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a collaborative partner, and a passionate advocate for employee development. This role drives impactful training initiatives that enhance capability, engagement, and retention across the Van Wert site, which includes both salaried and hourly employees. The position requires a high level of discretion, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate is a proactive leader who thrives on building strong relationships, influencing change, and delivering measurable results.

What You’ll Be Doing

Training Strategy Development and Implementation – 50%

Identify organizational and individual skill gaps using multiple methods to inform the development of targeted training programs.
Create comprehensive training plans and materials utilizing diverse learning methods, including in‑person workshops, e‑learning, leadership development, and mentorship programs.
Develop and implement overall learning strategies that support business objectives and enhance workforce capabilities.
Oversee the delivery of training initiatives and ensure effective use of learning technologies and platforms (SAP SuccessFactors).

 

Onboarding and Job‑Specific Training Programs – 25%

Design and deliver structured onboarding programs for new hires.
Collaborate with supervisors to create job‑specific training modules for production roles.
Monitor onboarding effectiveness and adjust content based on feedback and performance.
Oversee the delivery of training initiatives and ensure effective use of training platforms (People Now).
Measure and analyze the effectiveness of training programs and make adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
Guide employees through periods of change to ensure new skills and knowledge are adopted effectively.

 

Process Infrastructure – 25%

Create standardized training documentation and training‑record processes.
Ensure compliance with training documentation requirements for audits and certifications.
Track training participation, completion rates, and performance improvements.
Analyze data to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Report progress to plant leadership and recommend strategic adjustments.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a closely related field. Master’s degree preferred.Minimum of 3–5 years of experience applying adult learning theory and instructional design principles.Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Ability to collect data, analyze training effectiveness, and report outcomes.Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e‑learning platforms; experience with People Now preferred but not required.Creative and innovative approach to developing engaging learning solutions.Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and walk; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
