Job Description

This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of Danfoss’s supplied products by leading efforts to address supplier quality issues and ensure robust corrective actions are in place and driving the Advanced Product Quality Planning process (APQP) at launch. The Quality Supervisor also develops and mentors employees on quality engineering tools, inspection techniques, inspection equipment and processes as appropriate while leading continuous improvement efforts to focus on taking suppliers to next level of performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary organizational contact for supplier concerns and ensures appropriate corrective actions are deployed as necessary.
  • Supervise, coordinate, direct and prioritize supplier quality activities to assure top priorities are focused on key objectives of quality, delivery and cost.
  • Lead supplier PPAP by reviewing and approving supplier PPAP submissions, coordinating part samples for dimensional review and assembly trials.
  • Support both internal and external audits.
  • Communicate quality issues to front line leaders, factory personnel, and supply base. Assist them with containment, root cause, and permanent corrective actions.
  • Manage notifications (DMRs), responsiveness, containment, root cause determination, corrective action, and closure of supplier quality issues. Control scorecard (supplier DPPM) and lead the Cost of Poor Quality process.
  • Identification of the most disruptive suppliers and notify divisional SQEs.
  • Process owner for the Receiving & Inspection process, which includes monitoring supplier SPC of critical to quality characteristics, notifying suppliers of issues and then working with the supplier to ensure systematic corrective action.
  • Manage the inspection and controls at the plant to ensure supplier provided material quality levels.  Administer policy for selection of qualified suppliers. Provides assistance and contact to suppliers on problems and corrective actions and establish proper supplier relations.
  • Identify the training/mentoring needs of the team and ensure those needs are addressed. Develop, set, and achieve goals associated with the supplier quality assurance team that are aligned with the quality department.
  • Direct the disposition and analysis of pass-through returned materials and supplier non-conforming products. Insure that top pareto items are identified and completed, and that actions are being taken on the identified items.

 

Background & Skills

 

Required (basic) qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with ISO 9001 certified manufacturing operations, and a knowledgeable understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Specifications, and Quality System Knowledge (e.g. ISO 9001).
  • 3 years’ experience managing or leading people.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certified
  • Quality Control experience in industrial job shop manufacturing including the use of ISO 9001 procedures such as Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning process (APQP), Design and Process FMEA and Statistical Process Control, and Capability (SPC), and Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA)
